EdSpan Global, LLC ("EdSpan," "we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting the privacy of the individuals and organizations who visit and use our website and services. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard information when you visit our website and use any of our services, including our partner and school directory, AI-guided sector resources, school-mediated projects and opportunity pathways, and the EdSpan Learner Experience application described in Section 10 below (collectively, the "Services"). EdSpan connects corporate partners, schools, and learners through the Opportunity Network (the coordinated set of Services described above). EdSpan’s Services are offered to companies and schools, and any learner-facing content is delivered exclusively through and under the supervision of partner schools, as described further in Section 3 below.

EdSpan's Services are directed primarily at corporate partners and schools, not at individual learners. Except for the limited, school-mediated sign-in information EdSpan collects directly through the EdSpan Learner Experience application, as described in Section 10 below, EdSpan does not directly collect personal information from students or other minors. Any other content, guidance, projects, or opportunities made available to learners are delivered exclusively through, and under the supervision of, partner schools, consistent with the commitments described on our website, including that partners may not directly solicit learners and do not receive learner behavioral or interest data through the Services. Partner schools are responsible for their own compliance with applicable student privacy laws, including COPPA and FERPA, with respect to their own students, and EdSpan's collection of information through the EdSpan Learner Experience application is undertaken pursuant to its agreements with partner schools regarding their students' use of that application.
Learner interactions facilitated through the EdSpan Opportunity Network are governed by the safeguarding and child protection policy of the partner school through which the learner is enrolled. Other than as described in Section 10 below, EdSpan does not independently collect, solicit, or store learner data; all other learner engagement is school-mediated and subject to that school's applicable safeguarding, privacy, and data protection standards.
Certain Services, including sector explainers and learner-safe guidance tools, are powered in part by artificial intelligence trained on content approved by EdSpan, corporate partners, or partner schools. These tools are designed to answer only from approved content and are not a substitute for professional, academic, or counseling advice. EdSpan does not use these tools to collect personal information directly from learners, and schools may configure or restrict the content available to their learners through these tools.
We use cookies and similar tracking technologies to enhance your experience on our website. We retain your personal information for as long as necessary to provide our Services and fulfill the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, unless a longer retention period is required by law. When information is no longer needed, we take reasonable steps to securely delete or anonymize it.
We implement commercially reasonable administrative, technical, and physical security measures to protect your personal information from unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
EdSpan's Services are not generally directed at children and, apart from the EdSpan Learner Experience application described in Section 10 below, are not designed to collect personal information directly from individuals under the age of 18. To the extent learners interact with other EdSpan-powered content (such as AI-guided sector resources or school-mediated projects), that interaction occurs exclusively through and under the supervision of a partner school, including safeguarding and child protection matters, which are likewise governed by the partner school's own policies, and EdSpan does not independently collect, store, or process personal information from those learners. Where EdSpan collects limited information directly from students through the EdSpan Learner Experience application, it does so only as described in Section 10, and only in connection with a student's use of that application through their school. If you believe EdSpan has collected personal information directly from a child outside the circumstances described in this Privacy Policy, please contact us immediately at the address below and we will take steps to review and, where appropriate, delete that information promptly.
EdSpan Learner Experience is a web application we provide to partner schools for student coursework. Students sign in to it using the Google Workspace account issued by their school. This section describes the Google user data the application accesses, how we use it, and how it is stored and shared. It applies in addition to the rest of this Privacy Policy.
Signing In — Your Name and Email Address. When a student signs in with Google, we receive the student's name, email address, and Google account identifier. We use this information only to identify the student, to confirm that the account belongs to their school's Google Workspace domain, and to associate the student's work with the correct school record. We do not use this information for advertising or marketing, and we never post anything to a student's Google account.
Google Drive — Only Files the Application Creates. The application requests the https://www.googleapis.com/auth/drive.file permission. When a student submits an essay, the application creates a Google Doc in that student's own Google Drive containing the writing the student submitted, so the student keeps a copy of their own work. This permission grants the application access only to files the application itself creates. It does not allow the application to list, read, modify, or delete any other file in a student's Google Drive.
How This Data Is Stored. A student's name, email address, and Google account identifier are stored in our database for as long as the student's school maintains their account, and are deleted in accordance with Section 7 (Data Retention) of this Privacy Policy. Essay documents created in a student's Google Drive remain in that student's own Google account and under that student's control; we retain a reference to the document so the student can reopen it from the application.
How This Data Is Shared. We do not sell Google user data, and we do not share it with third parties for advertising or any other purpose unrelated to providing the application. Student coursework and grades are shared with the learning management system operated by the student's own school, which is what allows work completed in the application to appear in the school's records. Google user data is otherwise disclosed only as described in Section 6 (Disclosure of Your Information) of this Privacy Policy.
Legal Basis for Collecting Student Information. EdSpan collects this information from students pursuant to its agreement with the student's school, which is responsible for authorizing EdSpan's collection and use of student information consistent with applicable law, including COPPA and FERPA, as also described in Section 3 (Partner and School Data).
Limited Use. Our use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Our website may contain links to third-party websites or services. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those third parties and encourage you to review their privacy policies before providing any personal information.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or applicable law. We will notify you of material changes by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the Services following any update constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
This Privacy Policy is governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of New York, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising under this Privacy Policy shall be resolved in accordance with the dispute resolution provisions set forth in our Terms of Use.
